Do you consider yourself to be an action games aficionado? What games are on your watch list? In case you have missed out on some titles, here are some of the most anticipated action games of 2017.
Resident Evil 7: BioHazard
Capcom decided to go back to the basics on this one. Resident Evil 7: BioHazard takes the series back to its horror survival roots. You can expect more claustrophobic scenes, and other eerie surprises rather than the “all-out guns blazing” shoot-out action that was seen in Resident Evil 6. You play in first person mode and there’s even an option to play the whole game on PlayStation VR on PS4. It’s uncharacteristic to the classic resident evil that we are familiar with, edging closer to shaky cam horror of the paranormal activity kind, but it looks like it has all the jump scares for one hell of a game. It is set to release on January 24th 2017 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Exclusively for the PS4 and PS3 platforms, Nioh is an action game, developed by Team Ninja, in which you will travel through war-torn Japan as a blonde-haired warrior named William, fending off demons with your skills of the Almighty Samurai Sword. These vile demons will be hiding in the shadows, ready to ambush you at a moment’s notice. You can also battle other samurai in intense sword battles and train with different level of demons to really test your level of expertise in wielding and using the samurai sword. It is set to release February 9th 2017.
Prey 2 is developed by Arkane Studios and Human Head Studios. It is suitable for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC platforms. You play as Morgan Yu, in an alternate timeline where President J.F.K had survived his 1963 assassination attempt, who has to survive on an alien infested space station surrounded by thousands of hostile aliens. You can customize Yu to your liking and survive the onslaught of alien attacks. The aliens can take the form of items you find on board the spaceship, making for some good jump scares. You will have to find weapons and resources on the ship to defend yourself, obviously. Your decisions affect how the story pans out. The game is similar to an open world (as in no area is locked) and you can even go outside the station in space with no gravity to find shortcuts to the various parts of the station. No exact date has been given but you can expect it to be released in the first or second quarter of 2017.
Mass Effect: Andromeda
Mass Effect: Andromeda, a game developed by Bioware and published by EA, will take you beyond the Milky Way into the Andromeda Galaxy. Lead the way, exploring and navigating your way through the vast and unforgiving areas deep in outer space, for humanity to find its new home. You will have to battle aliens along the way while you build your crew, hijack the complex alien systems and take control of them, adding them to your arsenal. Your choices are what will take you far in this game and determine the survival of the human race. The game is set to release on March 21st 2017 on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
